After earning her B.S. in marketing from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business in 1984, Ms. Lavine received her J.D. from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law in 1987. That same year, she was admitted to practice law in New Jersey. Her career has included roles with an insurance company, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Trenton Municipal Court Prosecutor’s Office, the Hamilton Township Municipal Court Prosecutor’s Office and the Mercer County Board of Social Services. She established her own law firm in 1999 and has shared her knowledge through teaching positions at Rider University and Rutgers University.
Ms. Lavine’s career took root at the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, where she led the Economic Crime unit while managing a diverse trial caseload. During her tenure, she achieved an impressive success rate in over 30 jury trials. After her time at the prosecutor’s office, she launched her own law firm, focusing on family, real estate and employment law. Continuing her part-time work as a prosecutor in Trenton and Hamilton Township, she successfully handled numerous drunk driving cases. After stepping away from her prosecutorial roles, she expanded her practice to include criminal and motor vehicle defense. Her adept negotiations have consistently yielded favorable outcomes for her clients, all while balancing societal needs. She understands that while her clients deserve robust representation, accountability remains paramount.
In her role with the Mercer County Board of Social Services, Ms. Lavine focuses on safeguarding adults who have fallen victim to financial crimes. Her efforts have preserved the life savings of many, often protecting individuals from exploitation by those closest to them. Her responsibilities also encompass investigating and conducting hearings on complaints between employees, ensuring that grievances related to hostile work environments are addressed and employees work in safe conditions.
